In my work Mona Lisa Olandese the starting point is the identity of Holland. Many Dutch people would see themselves a purely white. Populist politicians want to restrict immigration out of fear of the identity. I used the idea of Mona Lisa only as a form and in a certain way as a well known icon. Apart from the famous Mona Lisa many portraits in the Renaissance were taken with a landscape as background. Many of the depicted people were more or less owners of the land, dukes and the like. I want to use the idea of ownership of the land while depicting the beautiful foreign girl. Here the beauty is in fact an esthetical attraction in order to tell the story. [work in progress]
